Here's what people are saying about the great work Nightlife Disabilty Services are doing.

Delia’s story - Why Nightlife is like a dream to me

I presently live with my aging mother who recently underwent major heart surgery. When she is no longer with me, Nightlife will be able to give me a sense of security, freedom and peace of mind knowing that I will be able to remain in my own home avoiding Group Homes or Nursing Homes. This service will reduce the stress currently placed on my mother and will allow both of us to reclaim our lives.

Most of the time I feel like a prisoner in my own home stripped of my friendships and social networks.

As my son and daughter-in-law are expecting a baby, the flexibility that Nightlife will provide will allow me to take an active role as a grandmother. Unfortunately, when my son was born this option was not available and I am the poorer for it.

With Nightlife, I know that I am not alone in my own home and that makes life worthwhile.

Deans’s story - Why Nightlife has helped me

I currently live at home with my parents, my father is 71 and my mother is 73, until Nightlife they assisted me with personal care on nights I do not have attendant care (every second night). I am involved with local groups and as such attend meetings and social functions, this was all done on the reliance of my parents providing care to assist me to bed after the events were over.

To put it plainly, my parents are aging and it is only a matter of time before they could not provide me with the additional care I needed. The fear was that when my parents can no longer assist me it would leave me with the following options;

1. Move to a nursing home where all care is provided, but this would mean resigning from my employment.
2. Applying for extra funding to accommodate for a night time carer.

With the assistance of Nightlife not only has it relieved my parents of the physical burden it has also shown them that my needs will be catered for now and in the future, this peace of mind is invaluable.
